“Too smart to be equal”

That’s the first line in the title song on Dotty Blue’s (Erika Iljero) debut album, Perfect (Free) Choice.

It also describes the sound of this fantastic new artist: great songs, intimate lyrics, an exceptional voice and a total concept that definitely place her a step above the majority of female indie pop singers out there today. Dotty Blue wrote, produced and recorded the album.

The record companies always say they are looking for something quirky, fresh and exciting. This self-released album has all that. Her fresh lyrical approach and dramatic settings are the perfect complements to her contemporary pop/rock sound. She has combined the best elements of pop, punk, rock, country and R&B and created a sound that forms the perfect background for her voice and lyrics. This is an artist who has something to say.

Special credit must be given to the exquisite guitar work by Jonas Lönngren, who also co-arranged all the songs on the album.

Keep an eye out for Dotty Blue… I saw her perform at the release party for this album and she is just as good (perhaps even better) live as she is on record; great energy and total stage presence.
