A stove in red

When you are small it can be fun to have a stove (and when you are bigger hopefully too!). You can make this version with a used carton or box. I found this carton which was already red on the outside and black on the insde. I cut out a door for the oven and cut away two of the flaps on either side which I taped to the inside to create a bottom for the oven. I cut out some hot plates from black paper which I glued to the top of the carton. If you want to make this project more advanced you can also make create heat controls.

Tape up the sides so that holes remian for looking into the oven. My children don’t find these strange and see them more as an advantage in making tasty food. Enjoy your meal!

En spis i rött

Man kan tycka att det är skoj med en spis då man är liten och förhoppningsvis även då man blir större. Denna variant gör man själv av en begagnad kartong/låda.

Den kartong som jag hittade var redan rödfärgad på utsidan och svart inuti. Jag skar upp en lucka för ugnen och skar bort två av flikarna på vardera sidor som jag tejpade fast inuti som en botten i ugnen. På toppen klippte jag till plattor i svart papper och limmade fast. Vill man göra det hela lite mer avancerat kan man skapa reglage.

Använd ytterligare kartongbitar och tejpa för hålen som gör att man kan se in i ugnen från sidorna. Mina barn har inte uppfattat hålen som något konstigt och därför har jag lämnat dem som de är. Barnen tycks uppfatta det som fler tillvägagångssätt för att uppnå en god måltid. Smaklig måltid!

A soft house

Instead of purchasing a mass produced play house made of plastic (which can also feel like it isn’t the healthiest for the kids) you can reuse old bed sheets and bits of fabric that are just lying in your closets without a home.  Sew a soft house for your little ones which is easy to pack away when they are done playing. The house below is made to fit a rectangular table and as you can well understand the variations are innumerable.

Keep the construction simple so that the sewing will be easy. All of the seams can be visible on the inside and the outside and become part and parcel of how the house looks. This house only has two walls and for these a slightly stronger fabric has been used. The bed sheet has been used on the roof to hold up the walls. The doors can easily be folded up.

The windows can be strengthened with another type of fabric and a pretty curtain can be attached to the inside.

Another variation is to use an old sheet on a round table and to give it some weight by sewing in a thick rope. Fold about 10 cm or 4 inches at the top and sew so that you can thread in the rope along the length of the sheet. The rope functions as a weight on the table at the same time as it doesn’t hurt the children if it is pulled down, which can easily happen if there are several playing.

Ett mjukt hus

Istället för att köpa ett massproducerad lekhus gjort i plast, vilket kan kännas tveksamt för hälsan för de små, så kan man återanvända ett gammalt lakan och gamla tygbitar som ligger i skåpen och inte vet vart de passar. Sy ett mjukt hus till dina små vänner, lätta att packa undan då leken är färdig. Huset nedan är skapat för att passa ett rektangulärt bord och som ni förstår är variationsmöjligheterna på hur dessa kojor kan se ut oändliga.

Håll konstruktionen enkel så att det blir lätt att sy. På insidan och utsidan kan alla sömmar synas och det blir en del av hur huset ser ut. Detta hus har bara två väggar och till dessa har ett lite kraftigare tyg använts. Som tak har ett lakan användts på för att hålla ihop väggarna. Dörren går enkelt att fälla upp.

Fönstren kan förstärkas med tyg av annat slag och en vacker gardin kan fästas på insidan.

En annan variant är ett gammalt lakan som knytas ihop med ett rep upptill och passar på ett runt bord. Vik in ca 10 cm upptill och sy för att sedan trä in ett rep eller snöre längs med hela långsidan. Ett grovt rep fungerar som tyngd på bordet och gör inte illa barnen om kojan dras ned, vilket kan hända om man är flera som leker.
